Meet Tight AF Indie-Rock Band, Ivy Streep

I have a theory alternative-rock trio, Ivy Streep, has access to some kind of Tardis. They manage to passionately revive elements of 60s psychedelic fuzz and 70s rock and roll, without sounding like a Led Zeppelin cover band. Their vibe is so authentic, it makes me wanna buy flared jeans and start an anti-war movement…

“It’s just an era that had a lot of feeling portrayed in music and we try to capture that same level of emotion. Bands like Sabbath, Free, Zeppelin, Underground, The Easybeats, Hendrix, Faces, Pink Floyd, The Kinks, The Doors, the original Fleetwood Mac, Bowie and many many more…”

The band also describes their sound as being a “mashup” with a “weirdly broad range of influences,” stemming from the 1940s to now. With a new single and album on the way, Ivy Streep is determined to show their sound isn’t just a testament to the past, it’s about living in the moment.

Vocalist and guitarist Floyd Quinlan-Baskett, bassist Lachie Hobson and drummer Harry Wrigglesworth say you’ll vibe Ivy Streep if you like “long walks on the beach, maybe a crumpet or two, a nice cool bottle of Indian tonic water and a delicate piece of crockery.”

When it comes to the lads, apparently Harry is a “sub-par spoon player, Floyd makes a good cup of tea and Lachie’s really good at spilling it.”

As for their band name, Floyd swept his Robert Plant style hair out of his eyes and grinned when I asked, why ‘Streep?’

“It’s like Meryl,” he said.

Could. They. Be. More. Wholesome.

Make sure you hit up Ivy Streep’s socials here so you’re first in line to hear their upcoming album.
